BLUM

A / 2005, Directed by Patrick Spanbauer

Sigo Wilde
On the 1st October 2005 Chilimascope took part in the film marathon BERLIN 36 under the name Chili Bros Inc. In this festival each participant has to create a 4-6 minute long short film related to a specific subject proposed by the festival arrangers, within 36 hours after the topic is announced.

Four cities were involved in this year’s edition: Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Vienna (for the first time in the history of the festival). The common topic, which was called „I didn’t mean it“ was made known on the 1st October 2005 at 9 o’clock in the morning, to all the participant cities simultaneously.

A number of 96 teams were admitted to the marathon. A jury formed by Viennese personalities (Christa Stadler/ORF, Sven Gächter/ Profil, Roland Teichmann/ÖFI, Monika Eigersberger/ FM4, Christian Seiler/journalist, Hannes Eder/Universal Music AustriaThomas Maurer/cabaret artist) selected Chili Bros Inc. production “Blum” amongst the best 6 Viennese films, entering thus in the festival’s „Shortlist“, the top 20 best films of all the cities.

"Blum" was finally nominated in the „Best nude scene“ category amongst all winner films. It didn’t win the prize in the end, but having reached so far it was for us nevertheless a significant and positive sign.
